BONG GO GIVES AID TO MANDALUYONG FIRE VICTIMS

Senator Bong Go dispatched his Malasakit Team in Mandaluyong City to deliver assistance to fire-hit families recently.

In a video call, Go said, “Huwag po kayong mawalan ng pag-asa, magtulungan lang po tayo. Sino ba naman ang magtutulungan kundi tayo kapwa Pilipino. Magseserbisyo ako sa inyo sa abot ng aking makakaya.”

“Kahit saang sulok kayo ng Pilipinas, pupuntahan ko kayo basta kaya ng aking panahon at katawan,” the veteran legislator added.

Held at Barangay Addition Hills evacuation center, a total of 172 families received aid following the recent fire incident in the area on December 27, 2025. This effort was made possible through close coordination with Brgy. Addition Hills Captain Carlito Cernal, who helped facilitate the outreach on the ground.

During the relief operation, the seasoned lawmaker’s Malasakit Team distributed food packs, snacks, vitamins, water containers, shirts, fans, and basketballs and volleyballs. Financial assistance was also extended to affected residents. Select recipients also received new pair of shoes, and a bicycle.

It was also recalled that the senator previously visited the same barangay on July 8, 2025, during which his Malasakit Team assisted 527 fire victims.

As Vice Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health, he highlighted the ongoing importance of accessible healthcare.

“Napakahalaga po sa akin ang kalusugan ng bawat Pilipino.”

“Napakahalaga po sa akin ang kalusugan ng bawat Pilipino. Ang Malasakit Center, para po ‘yan sa Pilipino, inyo po ‘yun, karapatan po ‘yan ng bawat Pilipino,” Go stated.

Malasakit Centers are one-stop shops aiming to support impoverished patients in reducing their hospital costs to the least possible amount. Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program.

To date, 167 Malasakit Centers are functioning nationwide, which have aided more than 17 million Filipinos, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

In Mandaluyong City, a Malasakit Center is located at the National Center for Mental Health.

Along with his health-related initiatives, Go continues to push for comprehensive disaster preparedness and response systems. He is the principal author and co-sponsor of RA 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of permanent, disaster-resilient, and fully equipped evacuation centers in every city and municipality.

“The law was instrumental in improving the capability of fire personnel to respond to emergencies.”

Complementing this measure is RA 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Modernization Act of 2021, which Go also principally authored and co-sponsored. He cited the law as instrumental in improving the capability of fire personnel to respond to emergencies.

“Asahan niyo po, bukas po ang aking opisina para sa inyo mga kababayan ko. Huwag po natin kalimutan na magpasalamat sa Panginoon,” Go concluded.
