Senator Bong Go, Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, reaffirmed his commitment to delivering accessible healthcare to every Filipino as he joined the blessing and inauguration of the Bacoor City Super Health Center in Cavite recently.
The event also coincided with the city’s 13th Cityhood Anniversary.
“Happy 13th Cityhood Anniversary.
Aking paniniwala at adbokasiya na ‘health is wealth.’
Expressing his gratitude for the continued trust and support of the people of Bacoor City, the seasoned lawmaker added, “Huwag po kayong magpasalamat sa akin.
The Super Health Center is a medium-type polyclinic designed to provide accessible and comprehensive primary care to underserved communities. Services offered include birthing facilities, laboratory tests, x-ray, ultrasound, outpatient consultations, pharmacy services, isolation rooms, and minor surgical procedures. It also provides ENT services, physical therapy and rehabilitation, oncology care, and telemedicine for remote consultations and diagnoses.
The senator highlighted that the construction of Super Health Centers is a result of the collaborative efforts among the Department of Health (DOH) under Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, local government units, and his fellow lawmakers. Over 700 Super Health Centers have been funded across the country, with 20 located in Cavite alone.
As an adopted son of CALABARZON region, he also recognized the local leaders who helped bring the project to life, including Congresswoman Lani Mercado Revilla, Agimat Party-list Representative Bryan Revilla, Cavite Board Member Alde Pagulayan, Mayor Strike Revilla, Vice Mayor Rowena Mendiola, and the city councilors.
Congresswoman Revilla emphasized the value of the facility, saying, “Ito ay isang patunay na prayoridad ng ating lungsod ang kalusugan. This is where your taxes go.
“Health is the foundation to build resilient communities and ensure every individual has the opportunity to thrive and be well.”
Pagulayan echoed the sentiment, noting, “Health is the foundation to build resilient communities and ensure every individual has the opportunity to thrive and be well. Investing in health is not merely a cost, it is an investment for our future.”
The Super Health Center initiative is part of Go’s broader push for a more inclusive and efficient healthcare system. Alongside this, he is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463 or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized one-stop shops in all DOH-run hospitals and the Philippine General Hospital to streamline access to medical and financial assistance. To date, 167 Malasakit Centers have been established nationwide, serving over 17 million Filipinos.
Go is also the principal sponsor and one of the authors of RA 11959 or the Regional Specialty Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of specialty units in regional hospitals to provide advanced services such as cardiology, nephrology, and oncology–reducing the need for patients to travel far from their provinces for specialized care.
“Thank you very much po sa lahat dito sa Cavite. Tawagin niyo lang po akong Kuya Bong Go,” he concluded.
Aside from the Bacoor City event, Go also attended the inauguration of the Batangas Provincial Medical Complex in Tuy, Batangas earlier that day, alongside Governor Hermilando “Dodo” Mandanas.
