Amid the onslaught of Typhoon Tino in Cebu Province, Senator Bong Go, through his Malasakit Team, extended assistance to hundreds of beneficiaries from various sectors including solo parents and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Pinamungajan, Cebu.
Go’s Malasakit Team coordinated with Congresswoman Girlie Veloso of the Malasakit and Bayanihan Partylist and Pinamungajan Mayor Glenn Baricuatro to facilitate an aid distribution at the Municipal Auditorium.
A total of 447 beneficiaries received shirts, foldable fans, pens, basketballs, and volleyballs to boost their morale towards recovery.
As part of his continuing efforts to help struggling Filipinos, the veteran legislator also commended the ongoing provision of financial aid from the national government, which provides additional support to qualified low-income workers to help them recover and uplift their livelihoods.
The senator then urged the national government to prioritize aid for the affected families in the Visayas region: “Muli, nanawagan ako sa pambansang pamahalaan – huwag pabayaan ang Visayas.
He has personally visited Talisay City, Cebu to extend aid and assess the situation of families affected by Typhoon Tino. Also, in his visits to communities in Cebu City and Mandaue City, particularly in evacuation centers which temporarily sheltered displaced residents, Go engaged with victims, offering them comfort and support.
Recognizing the struggles of solo parents, Go also co-authored and co-sponsored RA 11861, which amended the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act. The law provides additional benefits, including a ten percent discount on baby essentials and extended parental leave privileges, to better support solo parents in raising their children.
