BONG GO SENDS AID TO FIRE VICTIMS IN BOHOL

Senator Bong Go helped fire-affected families in the towns of Calape and Guindulman, underscoring his commitment to help them recover and rebuild their lives.

Go assured the victims of his continued support as they work to regain normalcy after the recent fire incidents.

Held at the municipal halls of Calape and Guindulman, the veteran legislator’s Malasakit Team reached out to three affected families to personally convey his care and dedication.

They listened to the concerns of the residents and distributed essential aid, ensuring that the beneficiaries felt the seasoned lawmaker’s unwavering support. They also distributed shirts, basketballs, and volleyballs to help uplift the spirits of those affected.

As advocated for by the senator, the national government also provided qualified victims with financial assistance through its Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP).

A lost life is a lost life forever. Magseserbisyo ako sa inyo sa abot ng aking makakaya,’” he added, emphasizing the importance of bayanihan spirit in times of adversity.

Go likewise expressed appreciation to local leaders for their efforts in assisting the fire-affected families, including Bohol Board Member DJ Balite, whose presence helped facilitate the aid distribution.

Go also recognized the barangay officials who assisted in organizing the activity.

Meanwhile, Go reiterated his commitment to addressing housing challenges especially in communities affected by crises. He filed Senate Bill No. 415, which seeks to establish a Rental Housing Subsidy Program for victims of calamities. If enacted, the measure will provide temporary shelter assistance while affected families transition to permanent housing.

Go also highlighted the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Modernization Act of 2021, which he principally authored and co-sponsored. He pointed to its role in strengthening the capabilities of fire personnel to respond more effectively to similar emergencies.

In addition, Go cited Republic Act No. 12076 or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which he also principally authored and co-sponsored. The law mandates the establishment of safe and disaster-resilient evacuation centers in every municipality and city nationwide.

Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
