BONG GO’S ‘PALUGAW’ PROJECT CONTINUES IN HOSPITALS

Senator Bong Go continues to extend aid to patients, caregivers, and healthcare workers through his Palugaw ni Mr. Malasakit initiative.

Go’s Malasakit Team visited several public hospitals across the country, offering warm meals to those spending long hours in medical facilities—especially those from low-income families.

In Metro Manila, the initiative reached San Lorenzo Ruiz Women’s General Hospital, Ospital ng Malabon, both in Malabon City; Navotas City Hospital; Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Caloocan City; Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital and Valenzuela Medical Center, both in Valenzuela City; and two hospitals in Quezon City—East Avenue Medical Center and the Philippine Heart Center. These hospitals serve hundreds of patients daily, and small efforts like food distribution can ease the strain on both patients and the people caring for them.

In Visayas, the program was carried out in Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC), Don Jose Monfort Medical Center in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, and Angel Salazar Memorial Hospital in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.

Meanwhile, in Mindanao, the feeding activity was once again brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City. The initiative helps address basic needs while patients focus on treatment and recovery, especially in areas where public hospitals cater to large populations with limited resources.

Most of these hospitals are equipped with Malasakit Centers, an initiative institutionalized through Republic Act No. 11463, a law principally authored and sponsored by the senator. These one-stop shops aim to simplify access to government medical assistance for indigent Filipinos. Currently, 167 Malasakit Centers have been established, benefiting over 17 million Filipinos, according to Department of Health reports.

The feeding program complements this initiative by addressing another practical concern: daily nourishment during hospital confinement or outpatient visits.

As he continues to visit hospitals and communities nationwide, Go remains committed to practical and consistent support—one meal, one act of compassion at a time.
