CAYETANO TO BETHESDA ORPHANS: YOU HAVE A FUTURE

Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano affirmed the life purpose of over 100 orphans from the Baguio City-based Bethesda Ministries International Philippines who visited the City of Taguig.

“May future ka. Hindi ka aksidente. Kasi sa mundong ito, gusto ng demonyo, maniwala tayo na aksidente lang tayo at hindi tayo importante. Pero hindi po totoo iyon,” Cayetano told the youth, citing a verse in Jeremiah of God’s plans for them to give them hope and a future.

The veteran legislator encouraged the youth to look beyond beginnings and trust in long-term growth through vision and faith.

“The planting of the seed matters.”

“The planting of the seed matters… you have to see the tree, you have to see the fruit… Kailangan makita niyo ‘yun. Because when you have a vision and you know your purpose, that will guide you,” the senator said.

He highlighted the value of sowing, recounting how Bethesda Ministry itself donated seeds to the City of Taguig.

“More than 20 years ago, ‘yung hospital namin, building lang. Walang doktor at laboratory, at ginagawa pa lang namin. Si (Bethesda Executive Director) Pastor Donald may friends from Korea. Nagpadala sila ng container van na may beds at iba pang mga gamit,” Cayetano said.

“Ngayon, we don’t only have one hospital, we just opened a second world-class hospital.”

“Kaya ‘yung unang nag-ayos ng hospital ng Taguig ay kayong mga taga-Bethesda. Kayo ang unang nag-plant ng seed ng Taguig. Eh ‘yung seed tumubo at namunga. Ngayon, we don’t only have one hospital, we just opened a second world-class hospital,” he added.

Cayetano has been supporting the ministry of Bethesda Ministries International Philippines since he started public service more than three decades ago, ensuring that he makes time to annually celebrate his birthday and Christmas with the Bethesda youth.

He has also been pushing for the establishment of a national care system and trust fund for orphans since 2010.

This 20th Congress, he filed Senate Bill No. 106 or the Trust Fund for the Abandoned, Neglected, or Voluntarily Committed Child.

Cayetano wrapped up his message by thanking and recognizing the Bethesda leadership, including Executive Secretary Andrea Locano.

“I hope you enjoyed your field trip here. One reason why is that not only enjoy fellowship and to be with your teachers, but also para makita niyo na all of us ay may gift kay Lord. And all of us – we say, think big, dream big,” he concluded.
