DAVAO DE ORO ASPHALT OVERLAY ROAD PROJECT FINISHED

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed preventive maintenance works on the 9.46-kilometer section of the Benigno S. Aquino Jr. National Highway, formerly known as the Compostela-Cateel Road – a vital road infrastructure connecting the provinces of Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental.

DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby Cordon, in a report to Secretary Manuel Bonoan, said that the road maintenance works on one of the major thoroughfares in the Davao Region is highly needed to optimize the road condition of the primary transport backbone between the two provinces in Davao.

“The asphalting activities along the Benigno S. Aquino Jr. National Highway is among the road improvement projects under the ‘Build Better More’ program.”

“Following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. on prioritizing road safety and enhanced travel experience for commuters and motorists, the asphalting activities along the Benigno S. Aquino Jr. National Highway is among the road improvement projects under the ‘Build Better More’ program of the administration focused on maintaining the quality and resiliency of the country’s transport network,” Cordon added.

Benigno S. Aquino Jr. National Highway is a 30-kilometer secondary road that helps decongest traffic on its adjacent major routes, significantly enhancing daily travel and promoting more business and economic opportunities in its town corridors.

Implemented by DPWH Davao de Oro 2nd District Engineering Office, the asphalt overlaying project, which includes the installation of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings was funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act, amounting to P143.29 million.
