DENR SEIZES P3.6M ILLEGALLY IMPORTED CHAINSAWS

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and local police have successfully seized approximately P3.6 million worth of illegally imported counterfeit chainsaws.

The buy-bust operation focused on Eseki Industrial Enterprises Corporation, which was found in violation of Republic Act No. 9175, also known as the Chainsaw Act of 2002.

Section 7 (1) of the RA No. 9175 prohibits the sale, distribution, or possession of chainsaws without the necessary permits.

Specifically, the company breached Section 7 (1) of the Act, which prohibits the sale, distribution, or possession of chainsaws without the necessary permits.

The authorities apprehended a total of 241 chainsaw units valued at P3,589,000. This haul included 154 large chainsaws priced at P16,000 each and 87 medium chainsaws priced at P13,000 each.

The operation took place at a Valenzuela warehouse where the chainsaws were being unloaded in preparation for sale.

As a result of this operation, Eseki Industrial Enterprises now faces potential criminal charges and penalties under Republic Act No. 9175.

“The seizure is part of the government’s broader strategy to combat environmental crimes in partnership with the Department of Justice and the Department of Interior and Local Government.”

DENR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga emphasized the importance of this seizure as part of the government’s broader strategy to combat environmental crimes in partnership with the Department of Justice and the Department of Interior and Local Government.

“This operation sends a strong signal that this administration is serious about enforcement of environmental laws,” Loyzaga said.

The environment chief reiterated DENR’s commitment to pursuing violators of conservation laws and urged businesses to adhere to the regulations designed to protect the environment.

Additionally, authorities are calling on the public to support the government’s efforts to safeguard forests, enhance environmental governance, and preserve the country’s rich natural heritage.
