Thousands of Cebuano commuters may soon travel with ease as the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is set to launch the pilot operations of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (Cebu-BRT) in September.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the pilot operations of the Cebu-BRT and to expedite the completion of other stations to serve commuters and ease traffic in the province.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said at least three stations of the mass transit system will be operational in September, noting the urgent need for a mass transit system that will offer connectivity and mobility to commuters.
“Malaking bagay ang Cebu BRT para sa mga kababayan nating Cebuano,” Dizon said.
“Pinamamadali na natin ang construction ng ibang station ng BRT para mas maraming lugar at mas maraming komyuter ang maabot ng nitong proyekto.”

Baricuatro, Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival, Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña and other local officials.

The construction for the Cebu Capitol station will follow, after finalizing its detailed engineering design to make it a median station from the previous curbside configuration.
The transport head expressed his gratitude to the Cebu Provincial local government for coordinating with the DOTr in addressing issues of the project.
“Iniutos ng Pangulo na bilisan ang pagtapos dito sa proyekto. Makakaasa ang mga kababayan nating Cebuano na gagawin natin ang lahat para matulungan ang mga komyuter para mas mabilis at komportable ang kanilang biyahe,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dizon said Phases 2A and 3A of the BRT which are composed of 13 stations and 62 bus stops will be completed before the President’s term ends in 2028.
