Two officials of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Cagayan Region have been removed from their posts following a viral video wherein they were seen physically harming two individuals, including a minor.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the immediate relief of Assistant Regional Director Manuel Baricaua and Chief Enforcer Charles Ursolum, while reminding Department of Transportation (DOTr) and attached agency officials of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order to serve Filipinos.
“Kaming nasa gobyerno ay wala rito para maghari-harian at mangabuso ng kababayan natin.”
“Paulit-ulit na sinabi ng Pangulo na kaming nasa gobyerno ay wala rito para maghari-harian at mangabuso ng kababayan natin,” Dizon said.
“Hindi kami nandito para manakit, mang-abuso o maghari-harian. The President said this several times,” the transport chief added.
The relief came after LTO Baguio MV Registration chief Edilberto Bongaoen was removed from office recently after he was arrested for drunk driving.
Dizon has instructed LTO Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza to extend the victims necessary assistance in filing legal cases against the officials.
The transport head likewise warned officials who fail to follow President Marcos’ order will be met with similar action.
“Kung merong kahit isang opisyal ng any agency under the DOTr na hindi sumunod sa utos ng Pangulo, pasensyahan na lang.”
