Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon warned online scammers and driver’s license fixers that the government will go after them to stop their illegal activities by duping the public and compromising road safety.
The move came after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and concerned agencies to fix the system, ensuring road safety.
12 years po kayong makukulong at kung hindi kayo natatakot dun, sige hintayin n’yo na lang na makulong kayo,” Dizon said during a press presentation of an arrested suspect.
The LTO and Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) arrested online scammers selling fake driver’s license and person with disability (PWD) ID.
The transport chief pointed out that selling fake driver’s licenses to unqualified drivers could result in road crash fatalities.
The transport head added that apart from online fixers, the LTO has suspended 107 driving schools involved in ‘no show’ certificates and non-compliance with the proper theoretical driver’s training.
