In a major step toward enhancing road safety and connectivity in Northern Luzon, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the replacement of the Babanuang Bridge along the Santiago–Tuguegarao Road in Barangay Babanuang, San Manuel, Isabela.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region II Director Mathias Malenab, announced that the completed P48.5-million bridge project addresses long-standing safety concerns associated with old bridge structure, which had been deemed structurally deficient and unfit for regular use.
The new Babanuang Bridge features durable bored pile foundations, a reinforced substructure and superstructure, and newly constructed approaches connected to the existing road network.
“With the completion of the new Babanuang Bridge, commuters and transport vehicles travelling along the Santiago–Tuguegarao Road are assured of a safer, and more efficient route.”
