DPWH OPENS WORLD-CLASS NAVOTAS CONVENTION CENTER

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finally completed the multi-year convention center building project which will serve as the newest large-scale venue for events and local gathering in the city of Navotas.

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, citing a report from Undersecretary for Regional Operations in NCR, Regions III, IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII and NIR Roberto Bernardo and DPWH National Capital Region OIC-Director Gerard Opulencia, said that the completed building facility which commenced construction in June 2020 is now 100 percent completed and is ready for occupancy.

Costing P535.996 million, the big-ticket project involved the construction of a 5-storey building facility with total floor area of 8,584.50 square meters to accommodate massive government events, sports competition, trade fairs, and other cultural gatherings.

The convention center boasts a multipurpose playing area with a seating capacity of 2,633, a spacious lobby and reception area, a parking space, fully-equipped and airconditioned function halls, locker rooms, a cafeteria, security and administrative booths, accessible and gender-inclusive comfort rooms, as well as mechanical and electrical facilities.

Lighting, ventilation, fire detection, alarm systems, automatic fire protection and emergency exits compliant to the current building codes were also put in place, as safety components.

“The completion of this modern Navotas Convention Center marks another milestone of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s ‘Build, Better, More’ Program, providing Filipinos with world-class infrastructure that supports local economic growth,” Bonoan stressed.
