The Games and Amusements Board (GAB), represented by Chairman Atty. Francisco Rivera, Commissioner for Operations Atty. Manuel Plaza III, Commissioner for Administration Angel Bautista, and Boxing and Other Contact Sports Division (BOCS) Chief Rodil Manaog, paid a courtesy visit to boxing legend and former Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.
The meeting was also attended by officials from the World Boxing Council (WBC) and prominent boxing stakeholders from across the country.
During the discussion, Pacquiao expressed his appreciation for the Board’s steadfast commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of professional athletes.
“GAB has always been one of our supporters.”
“During my boxing match last July, I felt the tremendous support of our countrymen—and on that note, GAB has always been one of our supporters. Thank you so much for the support. Mabuhay ang Philippine Boxing!” the former senator said.
The group also tackled key issues concerning the future of boxing in the Philippines, including the potential reestablishment of the Boxer’s Welfare Fund, the Board’s significant strides in updating the Manual Governing Professional Boxing in the Philippines, and the much-anticipated Thrilla in Manila bout between Filipino pride Melvin Jerusalem and South African boxer Siyakholwa Kuse, scheduled for 29 October 2025.
The iconic match title pays homage to the legendary 1975 fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.
