Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso expressed optimism for a more prosperous 2026 as he delivered his New Year message during the city’s first flag-raising ceremony at Manila City Hall.
Domagoso said the city government is entering the new year with renewed hope after overcoming a series of economic challenges in 2025.
“I’m hopeful that 2026 will bring prosperity to the people of Manila and to our city government.”
“Today, I am still grateful to God. Salamat sa Diyos na naitawid natin ang 2025, but I’m hopeful that 2026 will bring prosperity to the people of Manila and to our city government,” the mayor remarked.
“Pipilitin nating maging masinop at maging epektibo sa paggasta,” he said, acknowledging that the past year tested both the local government and its employees amid fiscal difficulties faced by the city.
Domagoso assured city employees that the administration would continue to focus on disciplined and responsible fiscal management to stabilize city finances.
He stressed that faith, unity, and hard work would be critical as the city faces both challenges and opportunities in the year ahead.
“We must continue to believe, we must do our best, and God will take care of the rest.”

He also reminded city government workers that public service exists because of the trust and sacrifices of taxpayers and urged them to serve with humility, integrity, and compassion.
Domagoso also called on city employees to remain healthy and cooperative, as he asked them to join him in praying for a safe, progressive, and peaceful Manila in 2026.
“Without them, there is no us. Our existence is through our people,” Domagoso said. “I am hoping and praying for a safe city, progressive city, and peaceful community.”
