A 67-year-old resident of Barangay Calawisan received P20,000 from the personal funds of Mayor Ahong Chan after availing of the Libreng Tuli program.

Chan personally handed over the cash incentive and witnessed the procedure.

“It was an incentive for facing his fear,” the mayor explained.

Joining the senior citizen participant were three younger men, aged 23 and 21, who also underwent the procedure. Each received P10,000 from Chan’s personal funds as part of the city’s campaign to encourage males aged 20 and above to participate.

“We aim to break social stigma and promote hygiene and health among adult males, especially those who were not circumcised in their youth.”

The program, implemented by the city government through its City Health Office, City Hospital, and Sta. Rosa Community Hospital, in partnership with the Office of Congresswoman Cindi King-Chan, aims to break social stigma and promote hygiene and health among adult males, especially those who were not circumcised in their youth.

Senior citizens who participate are entitled to a higher incentive of P20,000 from Mayor Chan’s personal funds.

Participants were also treated to free burgers, ice cream, medicines, and candies, making the experience less daunting and more rewarding, especially for younger boys.

The event was made possible through partnerships with the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Philippine Navy, Cebu Doctors University, Cebu Normal University, Gullas College of Medicine, Southwestern University, MHAM College Inc., Velez College, and the Department of Health.

Additional support came from the Fraternal Order of Eagles – Philippine Eagles, General Milling Corporation, International Pharmaceuticals Inc. (IPI), Eight to Eight, Plantation Bay Resort and Spa, and McDonald’s.
