Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso confirmed that the city government’s contingent of doctors and nurses, along with medical supplies and the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MCDRRMO), is heading to Cebu.
Domagoso made the statement during an ambush interview after leading the lighting of an almost 4-kilometer tunnel, a project donated by San Miguel Corporation.
“Kahit na kaunti man lamang: mga medical professional na makatulong man lang sa kinakaharap ng ating mga kababayang Cebuano na may mga kamag-anak din sa Maynila.”

He also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake, saying, “Nakikiramay po tayo sa mga pamilyang nandoon. Nandito ang inyong Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Maynila upang tumulong.”
Headed by its director, Arnel Angeles, the MCDRRMO, together with the team of medical professionals, is on its way to assist Cebu in recovering from the earthquake that has already claimed approximately 70 lives, with the number still expected to rise as relief and rescue operations continue.
