Regardless of when they are issued, health certificates in the City of Manila will now be valid for one full year.
Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso made the announcement following the unanimous approval of the local health board members recently.
The change was approved by the Manila City Local Health Board, presided over by Domagoso, a day after he met with 150 fast food managers at City Hall.
The managers raised the issue during the meeting, and Domagoso promised immediate action in response.
The mayor said this will replace the old policy where all certificates expired on December 31 of the year of issuance.
“The new system would spare workers and business owners from having to renew certificates prematurely.”

“It will not expire December 31 — it will be expiring on the day, one year after the issuance.”
“Kapag inissuehan ka ng health certificate, and if it is valid for one year, no matter what month you acquired, it will not expire December 31 — it will be expiring on the day, one year after the issuance,” Domagoso explained.
He said this will streamline health and business-related transactions while reducing unnecessary costs and inconvenience for employees and business owners.
