Senior citizens in Manila now have more reasons to celebrate, with Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso surprising them with the return of the city’s birthday cake tradition.
Domagoso recently visited the home of 87-year-old celebrant, Lola Consolacion Villanueva, in Tondo to surprise her with a birthday cake and extend his warm greetings.
According to the mayor, Manila’s elderly residents hold a special place in his heart.
“Spoiled saken ang ating mga lolo at lola, love na love ko ‘yan,” he said, emphasizing that apart from birthday cakes, they also receive Ensure milk as nutritional supplements.

By bringing it back, he aims to continue the services he started and show his deep appreciation for the city’s senior citizens.
Beginning July 1 and continuing until December 31, 2025, every senior celebrant in Manila will be honored with a cake on their special day.
