“This gives even greater meaning to my birthday, as we mark this key development that strengthens our province’s capacity to respond to health threats and safeguard the well-being of our people,” the governor said.
“The inauguration of this Center for Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases is not only an advancement for the hospital, but an achievement for the entire province,” he added.
The CEMREID in Silay City is a P100-million facility developed through the collaboration of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, the Department of Health, and the World Bank.
It was established in response to the infrastructural gaps exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The facility is equipped with an emergency room, operating room, delivery room, and an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), all designed to ensure efficient and safe patient management.
Its ground floor features an Infectious Emergency Room with two ambulance drop-off points and utilizes the province’s first Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) negative pressure system to enhance infection control.
“The provincial administration will continue to invest in government-run hospitals, the healthcare workforce, and systems that ensure no Negrense is left behind when it comes to health and safety.”
