NEW CUSTOMS BROKERS URGED TO BE NATION BUILDERS

Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno served as Guest of Honor and Speaker during the oath-taking ceremony of newly licensed customs brokers.

The event formally welcomed the successful examinees of the recent Customs Brokers Licensure Examination and was attended by more than 2,000 inductees, along with their families and guests.

In his message, Nepomuceno congratulated the new license holders for their perseverance and dedication, emphasizing that becoming a customs broker comes with a higher level of responsibility and moral accountability.

The customs chief urged the inductees to view their profession as an opportunity to make a positive difference, especially amid the challenges faced by the country and the institution they may soon serve.

“Always think every morning that you can be the bright star in your own office.”

“Always think every morning that you can be the bright star in your own office, in BOC if you join, in your own corporations/logistics company, the darker it is because of the things that happen in our country, the brighter star you should be,” Nepomuceno stressed, encouraging the inductees to uphold integrity and professionalism in their respective workplaces.

He further called on the new customs brokers to actively contribute to nation-building and to remain faithful to the oath they had taken.

“I assure you personally that I am joining you in joining the right side of history.”

“Tulungan natin ang bansa natin, kelangan ng bansa natin ng tulong and I assure you personally that I am joining you in joining the right side of history,” Nepomuceno said.

“Pagbutihin nating lahat, mahalin natin ang ating bansa, mahalin ninyo ang inyong panunumpa, bilang mga bagong Customs Broker,” he added.

Drawing from his experience in public service, Nepomuceno also shared insights on the challenges and pressures faced by the Bureau of Customs, noting that these difficulties have served as catalysts for reform and continuous improvement within the agency.

He encouraged the newly licensed customs brokers to face future challenges with professionalism, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose, and to contribute meaningfully to national development and the ongoing modernization efforts of the BOC.
