2025 Qatar World Cup 10-Ball Champion Jonas Magpantay and his team made a courtesy call to Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Chairman Atty. Francisco Rivera at the GAB Central Office in Makati City.
Magpantay shocked the world and even himself, when he dominated and captured the 10-ball title at the 2025 Qatar World 10-Ball World Cup, defeating 2022 World Junior Champion Szymon Kural of Poland in the finals on November 2, 2025 in Doha, Qatar.

“My victory is a story that started from humble beginnings.”
He described his victory as a story that started from humble beginnings, recounting how he qualified for the tournament despite not being seeded, overcame multiple eliminations, battled seasoned world champions, and re-entered the main draw through a points system that gave him a second chance—ultimately paving his way to becoming a world champion.
“His success stands as a testament to Filipino resilience and global excellence.”
Rivera commended Magpantay’s remarkable journey, emphasizing that his success stands as a testament to Filipino resilience and global excellence.
The GAB chief noted that Magpantay’s victory not only brings pride to the nation but also serves as an inspiration to aspiring Filipino billiard athletes who dream of following in his footsteps and proudly waving the Philippine flag in an international sports event.
