The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) met with officials from the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), led by Sarah Spencer, First Secretary (Development), and Mei Nebreja Santos, Portfolio Manager for Humanitarian Action and Disaster Resilience at the PRC Tower to discuss the renewal of their long-standing partnership.
Since 2006, DFAT has provided approximately AUD 19.5 million (P684.3 million) in support to PRC, strengthening key services such as disaster management, health, welfare, WASH, and COVID-19 response.
This partnership has enabled large-scale operations for major emergencies, including Typhoon Haiyan, the Marawi Crisis, and recent typhoons, benefiting thousands of vulnerable families through relief distribution, shelter, and cash assistance.
PRC Chairman and CEO Dick Gordon emphasized the importance of sustained global cooperation.

PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang underscored the operational impact of the collaboration. “DFAT’s support has significantly enhanced our capacity to respond swiftly and effectively to disasters. Both parties expressed optimism for the renewal of the agreement, further securing their commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and delivering life-saving assistance to vulnerable communities across the Philippines.
