Governor Rogelio Pacquiao expresses support for youth and sports development as he graced the opening ceremony of the Sarangani Provincial Athletics Association (SPAA) Meet in Kiamba.

During the opening ceremony held at Kiamba National High School, Pacquiao lauded the dedication and discipline of the young athletes across Sarangani Province, as well as the support and commitment of their coaches and teachers.

In his message, the governor emphasized that sports play a vital role in shaping character, promoting teamwork, and instilling values of perseverance and fair play among the youth.

“Winning is important, but having good character is even more vital.”

“This year’s theme, ‘Strengthening Unity, Excellence, and Sportsmanship in Sarangani’ reminds us that winning is important, but having good character is even more vital,” he said.

“Unity teaches us that even if we come from different schools and towns, we are still one Sarangani.”

“While unity teaches us that even if we come from different schools and towns, we are still one Sarangani – excellence challenges us to give our best, and sportsmanship reminds us to play fair, stay humble when we win, and stay strong when we lose,” Pacquiao added.

He also expressed appreciation to the Local government of Kiamba, the Department of Education-Sarangani Division, and other stakeholders who made the annual sporting event a success.

Student-athletes from various schools in the different towns competed in different sporting events, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship while fostering camaraderie and the Sarangani pride.
