LOS BAÑOS, LAGUNA — The UPLB Street Jazz Dance Company (UPLB SJDC), the official hip-hop dance varsity of the University of the Philippines Los Baños, is set to stage SKIRMISH Vol. 4, an open national street dance event happening on April 11, 2026, at the D.L. Umali Hall.
Now on its fourth installment, SKIRMISH continues to position itself as a platform that highlights the growing vibrancy of street dance in the Philippines. The event will feature dance crews from different parts of the country, each bringing their own style, technique, and creative interpretation of street dance to the stage.
UPLB SJDC, which has been active for over 27 years, has consistently represented UPLB in various regional and national competitions. Through initiatives like SKIRMISH, the organization extends its reach beyond performance by contributing to the development of a wider dance community. The event serves not only as a competition but also as a venue for artistic exchange and audience engagement.
In its previous run, SKIRMISH Vol. 3 gathered 15 dance crews from Los Baños and nearby provinces, presenting a diverse mix of performances that ranged from traditional hip-hop to more experimental street styles. The event drew a full-capacity audience, reflecting strong local support and interest in live dance showcases.
Organizers expect this year’s edition to attract an even larger audience, given the increasing visibility of UPLB SJDC and the growing popularity of street dance events among students and young audiences. With over 18,000 followers on Facebook and significant online engagement in recent months, UPLB SJDC continues to build momentum leading up to the event.
