Senator Raffy Tulfo expressed concern over the reported ceiling collapse at the Arrival Extension Area of NAIA Terminal 1, which left seven individuals injured.
As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Public Services, Tulfo immediately coordinated with Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Giovanni Lopez to check on the condition of the victims and ensure they are receiving proper assistance.
“The seven injured individuals were well-wishers who were immediately attended to.”
According to Lopez, the Emergency Response Team of the New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) promptly responded to the incident. The seven injured individuals, according to him, were well-wishers who were immediately attended to.
Lopez assured Tulfo that NNIC has shouldered all medical expenses of the victims.
The transport chief said they were informed that one of the victims reportedly suffered a forehead injury and asked to be transferred to Makati Medical Center, while the others are in stable condition.
Tulfo emphasized the importance of swift response in incidents like this, not only to ensure the safety of those affected but also to provide them with immediate and adequate assistance.
“Remain proactive in enforcing safety standards across all airport facilities nationwide.”
While operations at NAIA Terminal 1 have since returned to normal, the legislator reminded the DOTr and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to remain proactive in enforcing safety standards across all airport facilities nationwide.
Lopez assured that a thorough investigation into the incident is underway and committed to providing updates to the lawmaker’s office as soon as findings and other relevant information become available.
