UP Manila Chorale’s “Tanglaw: Pamana ng Himig” Returns to the Spotlight This March

Following their successful concert during last year’s Buwan ng Wika, the University of the Philippines Manila Chorale (UPMC) returns to the stage for a special restaging of their concert, Tanglaw: Pamana ng Himig.The performance will be held on March 29, 2026, at the Metropolitan Theater, with two showtimes at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM. 

This three-part concert serves as a heartfelt tribute to the National Artists for Music of the Philippines. It features selected works by Ryan Cayabyab, Levi Celerio, Lucio San Pedro, Lucrecia Kasilag, and other pillars of Filipino music. Through these songs, UPMC aims to revive the richness of our cultural heritage and highlight the vital role of music in shaping national identity. 

Under the leadership of conductor and music director John Steven Verrosa, and with Martin Sean J. Inanuran as collaborating artist, UPMC brings renewed life to the remarkable works of our National Artists. The performance will also feature a special collaboration with Dr. Ramon P. Santos, a National Artist for Music, adding greater depth and significance to the program. The concert is co-presented by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Metropolitan Theater, with support from the Order of National Artists of the Philippines reflecting continued recognition and support for Filipino arts and culture. 

This concert is also part of UPMC’s new season, “PAMANA: The 2026 Season,” which aims to promote the legacy of Filipino composers, elevate the country’s choral excellence on the global stage, and remain rooted in traditions that inspire future generations.
