Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso led the distribution of three kilos of rice to 250 daycare parents from Districts V and VI and Baseco under the city’s Rice for Work Program at Dakota Court, President Quirino Avenue, Malate.
Carrying the theme “Kaagapay sa Hapag-Kainan,” the program provides three kilos of rice to each qualified beneficiary in exchange for their participation in community clean-up and environmental activities.
“Naglinis ka na, kapaki-pakinabang na ang oras mo.”
“Puwede bang tulungan ninyo ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Maynila na maglinis ng ating kapaligiran. Naglinis ka na, kapaki-pakinabang na ang oras mo,” Domagoso said.
“Pag-uwi mo, may chi-cha ka pa,” the mayor added.
“Pag-uwi mo, may chi-cha ka pa.”
Vice Mayor Chi Atienza and Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) Director Jay dela Fuente also joined Domagoso during the rice distribution, as the city government continues to implement programs that provide assistance to families while encouraging community participation.
The second batch of the Rice for Work Program will run from September 10 to 21, with community clean-up and environmental activities scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday.
The initiative is part of the capital city’s continuing effort to provide assistance to vulnerable families while encouraging Manileños to actively participate in keeping their communities clean, safe, and healthy.
Through the Rice for Work Program, the city government seeks to help address the immediate food needs of families while promoting volunteerism, civic responsibility, and bayanihan among its residents.
Domagoso also urged the parents to help spread information on leptospirosis, noting that accurate and timely information can help protect their families and communities.
