3K CEBU FAMILIES GET CASH AID FROM PRC – GORDON

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) turned over a multi-purpose cash grant to about 3,000 families in Cebu who were affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

PRC chair and chief executive officer, Senator Dick Gordon, led the virtual turnover of the cash grant recently attended by the American Red Cross and the local government officials of Cebu City, Mandaue City, Naga City, and Talisay City.

“It is not that big but not too small at P3,500 per family.”

“Hindi maliit pero hindi rin malaki at P3,500 bawat pamilya ang mabibigyan. Aabot yan sa dalawang barangay at dalawang bayan ng P1.778 million. Meron pa tayong natitira na bibigyan sa Cebu, dalawang bayan (It is not that big but not too small at P3,500 per family. That will be received by two barangays and two towns amounting to P1.778 million. We still have some left for two more towns in Cebu),” Gordon said.

The veteran legislator stressed that the PRC always helps those who are suffering and helps uplift their dignity.

The seasoned lawmaker asked those who receive the grant not to think of it as coming from politicians.

“Ito ay tulong para alam namin kung sino talaga yung nahihirapan hindi nabigyan ng gobyerno ng pera at kailangan pa ng konting tulong para maitaas ang kaniyang dignidad para mapawi ang gutom ng kaniyang pamilya (This is intended for those who are suffering and in need to help uplift his dignity and alleviate the hunger of his family),” the senator said.

He also encouraged the beneficiaries to help their neighbors when they can and show true concern for others and the country.

“The PRC will still bring in an additional P20 to P30 million more for those in need.”

Gordon said that the PRC will still bring in an additional P20 to P30 million more for those in need.

Before the actual turnover, he also urged Cebuanos to work, save and invest whatever money they have and roll them over.

Meanwhile, Gordon also assured Cebuanos that the PRC will continue coordinating with the national government for the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out as soon as the vaccine becomes available in the country.
