5,500 SARANGANI EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS GET CASH AID

Governor Rogelio Pacquiao, together with Department of Social Welfare and Development XII Regional Director Loreto Jr Cabaya, led the turnover of Emergency Cash Assistance to families who were affected by the 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Sarangani.

More than 5,000 families with partially damaged and totally damaged houses from the municipalities of Alabel, Malapatan, and Glan benefitted from the implementation of the cash transfer of DSWD.

P13,000 was given to each of the 5,006 families with partially damaged houses and P27,180 to each of the 459 families with totally damaged houses.



Pacquiao and Cabaya were joined by Mayor Vic Paul Salarda of Alabel, Mayor Salway Sumbo Jr. of Malapatan, and Mayor Victor James Yap Sr. of Glan in the distribution of P13,000 to each of the 5,006 families with partially damaged houses and P27,180 to each of the 459 families with totally damaged houses.

In his message to the beneficiaries, the governor assured them the government will always be there to help. “Sa kalisod man o kalipay, kauban ninyo ang gobyerno, sa barangay, munisipyo, probinsya, ug even sa national.”

“I commended the resiliency of the Sarangans to bounce back despite the calamities that hit our province.”

Beneficiaries of the cash payout were identified through the assessment conducted by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs) and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices (MSWDOs) to the houses of affected families.
