Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, together with National Housing Authority (NHA) and local government officials, led the turnover of 750 housing units in Cebu province last April 29, 2021 in what he described was “an important activity in line with the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mactan.”

“The Cebuanos’ bravery and heroism is well-known, especially when faced with almost-insurmountable challenges. Cebuanos never back out from any adversity,” Nograles said.

The distribution of free housing units was for the location in St. Francis Park Homes 2, Barangay Kodia, Madridejos, Cebu. It was the 39th virtual turnover under Task Force Yolanda and the fifth such event for the province.

The Malacanang official likewise thanked Mayor Salvador Dela Fuente, Vice Mayor Jay Dela Fuente, members of the Sangguniang Bayan and employees of the Madridejos LGU for their dedication in ensuring services are delivered to their constituents.

“Through our partnership with Pilpinas Kontra Gutom which is composed of various private corporations, we will create community gardens from idle lands so that the people of Madrilejos and other beneficiary areas can grow nutritious food for consumption and commerce,” the former legislator from Davao explained.

Mayor Dela Fuente, for his part, spoke on behalf of the LGU and thanked President Duterte, Nograles and the NHA for “this precious gift of housing, and we assure our leaders that this assistance will be used well for the improvement of livelihood in the area. We will never forget this assistance.”
