DY PUSHES FOR REFORMS AS HOUSE RESUMES SESSIONS

As the House of Representatives resumed sessions, House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III laid out the chamber’s legislative priorities, highlighting 62 bills on second reading and pushing for the passage of key reform measures that will benefit the Filipino people.

In his opening address, Dy highlighted the House’s steady work during the session break, emphasizing that the House continued to be responsive to the needs of the public.

“Our committees continued to function with focus and discipline.”

“Our committees continued to function with focus and discipline—ensuring that governance remains steady, responsive, and accountable,” the veteran legislator said.

The seasoned lawmaker noted that even before the resumption of session, 62 bills had already reached second reading.

The Speaker said several of these measures are now up for deliberation, including long-pending reforms.

“Ngayong linggong ito, tatalakayin natin ang National Land Use Act, upang magkaroon tayo ng malinaw at pangmatagalang plano sa paggamit ng ating lupa at likas-yaman,” he said.

Dy added that the proposed law institutionalizing the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) would ensure that assistance to the country’s poorest families remains adequate and responsive.

“Panahon na rin upang pagtibayin ang panukalang batas para sa 4Ps, upang matiyak na ang tulong… ay nananatiling maayos, sapat, at napapanahon,” he said.

Dy also reiterated his call for the passage of the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill, saying it is critical to strengthening public trust in government.

“Kung tunay nating nais palakasin ang tiwala ng taumbayan sa ating institusyon, ipasa na natin ang Anti-Political Dynasty Bill.”

“Kung tunay nating nais palakasin ang tiwala ng taumbayan sa ating institusyon, ipasa na natin ang Anti-Political Dynasty Bill,” he added.

According to Dy, these measures form part of a broader legislative agenda aimed at ensuring that governance today prepares the country for the future.

“Tutukan natin ang mga ito dahil narito tayo hindi lamang upang pangalagaan ang kasalukuyan. Narito po tayo upang maging handa para sa kinabukasan,” he concluded.
