Tao Rin Pala (TRP) returns in its 52nd year with the theme Ovation to bring together the University of the Philippines College of Medicine (UPCM) and Philippine General Hospital (PGH) community.
Organized by the UP Medical Students’ Society (UP MSS), TRP brings medical students, UPCM faculty, and PGH employees together beyond the walls of the classroom and hospital to celebrate life outside medicine.
The event’s variety show will include a showcase of musical performances, dance routines, and theatrical acts, among other talents.
Adding to the festivities is the traditional chorale competition, uniting the different batches in a showcase of harmony and camaraderie.
TRP is also a fundraising event, with proceeds directed to scholars of Aurora A. Quezon Elementary School (AAQES) and People’s Recovery, Empowerment, and Development Assistance (PREDA) Foundation, Inc.
The event name, coined by UP MSS co-founder Dr. Remberto “Bobby” de la Paz, serves as a reminder of a doctor’s humanity when the white coat is taken off.
It began in 1974 as a platform of expression for UPCM students amid Marcos Sr.’s Martial Law, an era of political unrest and censorship.
As curtains rise on this year’s iteration, TRP 52 steps into the spotlight showcasing a night of bounding creativity, innovation, and human connection.
The event will be held on May 8, 2026, at Fleur-de-lis Auditorium in St. Paul University, Manila.
