ABANTE WANTS PH COVID VACCINATION PLAN PROBED

With the government set to implement the largest vaccination program in the nation’s history, Deputy Speaker and Manila 6th District Rep. Benny Abante Jr. has filed a resolution urging the House to conduct an inquiry into the Philippine National Deployment and Vaccination Plan for COVID-19 Vaccines (NDVP) to help ensure that the plan meets its primary objective: the vaccination of 70 million Filipinos by the end of 2021.

In House Resolution No. 1573, Abante said that “the NDVP is the most ambitious and large-scale vaccination plan in the nation’s history.”

“The success of the plan is crucial to end the threat posed by COVID-19 in the Philippines and to pave the way for a better normal that will allow the country to resume full social and economic activities.”

According to Abante, the success of the plan “is crucial to end the threat posed by COVID-19 in the Philippines and to pave the way for a better normal that will allow the country to resume full social and economic activities.”

Abante stressed in the resolution that “the NDVP involves numerous government agencies, offices, and instrumentalities, all of which must work seamlessly together and be guided by data and science to ensure that COVID-19 vaccines are properly administered to their intended recipients at the soonest possible time.”

The lawmaker on Sunday underscored the importance of congressional oversight “given how the implementation of the NDVP affects the welfare of all of our constituents.”

“Like many of our countrymen, I welcome the fact that the national government has come up with a very comprehensive plan with regard to the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccines,” said the solon.

“And, like many of our kababayan, I am very concerned about how this plan will be implemented, from securing the vaccine supplies up to the point that they are administered to their intended recipients; I am hopeful that a thorough inquiry will shed light on this.”

On January 26, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) COVID-19 National Task Force (NTF) issued a memo to all implementing agencies, regional and local COVID-19 task forces, and regional and local vaccination operations centers (VOCs) informing them that the NDVP had been approved and ratified.

“Like many of our countrymen, I welcome the fact that the national government has come up with a very comprehensive plan with regard to the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccines.”

The memo, signed by NTF Covid-19 Chair and DND Sec. Delfin Lorenzana, NTF COVID-19 Chief Implementer Sec. Carlito Galvez, and NTF Covid-19 Vice-Chair and DILG Sec. Eduardo Año, directs all regional and local COVID-19 VOCs to develop their vaccination deployment and vaccination macroplans and to develop vaccination deployment and vaccination microplans, respectively.
