ABRA TOWN: NO NAMES OF POLS IN GOV’T PROJECTS

Mayor Fernando Semanero Jr. has vowed that projects of the town of Sallapadan in Abra province will no longer bear faces and names of politicians as these are funded by taxpayers’ money.

“This will be the trend in all projects of the municipality,” Semanero said.

“The credit will be that of the residents and not to us.”

The credit will be that of the residents and not to us because when I was elected, I chose to serve the town where I grew up and where my family is and most especially, to serve my town mates,” he added.

The mayor stressed that the newly-acquired ambulance does not bear his name, which can encourage his town mates to pay their taxes.

“It is a way of encouraging them (to pay their taxes) because they can access its services, giving credit to them.”

“Because they can see where their money is being spent. It is a way of encouraging them (to pay their taxes) because they can access its services, giving credit to them. After all, it is Sallapadan people’s money that was used to purchase it,” he explained.

Semanero said residents can thus start seeing a change in the political landscape where governance and government services can be seen and felt by them.

“We want to uplift the status of our town by bringing proper governance — that people feel the government. I call on my town mates to help our town improve by doing their share of paying taxes and I will assure that the services of the government will redound to them,” he added.
