The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is undertaking the construction of an access road leading to Nasipit Agusan del Norte Industrial Estate Special Economic Zone (NANIE-SEZ) in Barangay Camagong, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.

With a total length of 39.81 kilometers, the project will traverse Sitio Hinandayan to Sitio Minbahandi in the municipality of Nasipit and will end at the boundary of Region 13 and Region 10 in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.

“The multi-year project which commenced in 2018 and is programmed up to 2023.”

Citing reports from DPWH Region 13 Director Pol Delos Santos, Secretary Mark Villar explained that the multi-year project which commenced in 2018 and is programmed up to 2023 is now approximately 24.56 percent accomplished based on total project cost.

Under the 2021 allocation, DPWH is currently implementing 1.59 kilometers of road concreting and 1.67- kilometer graveling and slope protection with reinforced concrete pipe culvert (RCPC) for drainage.

“The Port of Nasipit is only 100 meters away, Butuan City proper is 25 kilometers away, and Bancasi Airport is just about a 30-minute ride.”

“Once completed, the road will provide a reliable infrastructure for trade and industry connecting easily to the Port of Nasipit which is only 100 meters away, to Butuan City proper at 25 kilometers away, and to Bancasi Airport in just about a 30-minute ride,” Villar added.

With better accessibility, it is also expected to capture the interest of investors to develop the vast fertile lands within NANIE-SEZ for industrial and commercial trade, spurring economic activities in the municipality.

A member of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), NANIE-SEZ is a 62-hectare Special Economic Zone owned and operated by the Municipal Government of Nasipit.
