ALAMINOS FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT STARTS – VILLAR

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced that residents of Alaminos City, Pangasinan will soon be less susceptible to flooding with the ongoing construction of a flood control project in Barangay Pogo.

“This 356-meter flood control project aims to mitigate the overflowing of Alaminos River not only to safeguard agricultural lands and products, but more importantly, to protect lives and properties of Pangasinense,” Villar said.

“The project aims to protect the lives and properties of Pangasinense.”

In her report, DPWH Pangasinan First District Engineer Marieta Mendoza said that the project involves construction of slope protection and pile driving of steel sheet piles along the riverbank funded with a total of P37-million under the 2021 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

The project is targeted to be completed by September.

The project is targeted to be completed by September to prevent inundation during the rainy season.

“The new Alaminos River Flood Control Structure is also seen to protect against scouring or erosion along riverbanks of Alaminos River in the long run,” Mendoza concluded.
