ALBAY TOURISM GETS BOOST FROM TIEZA

The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) made an offer to the province of Albay to further boost tourism through infrastructure development assistance.

In a forum held recently, TIEZA in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Provincial Government of Albay (PGA), through the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (LEDIPO) led by Jaymee Ribaya, made a compact with possible investors in the province.

Focal persons of each local government unit in Albay and possible investors discussed the investment opportunities, tourism infrastructure support, and financing of potential tourism sites through the public-private partnership that TIEZA offers.

“Tourism infrastructure is included in the 7-point agenda of the Department of Tourism.”

TIEZA Division Manager Donald Maldonado highlighted that tourism infrastructure is included in the 7-point agenda of the Department of Tourism.

Albay Governor Grex Lagman vowed support to strengthen tourism in the province.

“The PGA will harness the power of tourism investments to create growth and transformation hubs in the province even as we blaze new trails for Albay as a model for tourism excellence,” Lagman stressed.

It can also be recalled that tourism is included in the governor’s 5-point agenda.

“Infrastructure is key to tourism development”.

Maldonado added that, according to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., “Infrastructure is key to tourism development”.

Meanwhile, TIEZA’s objectives, according to him, include promoting tourism-related investments, providing comfort and convenience to tourists, and attracting investors to the country.

“Tourism is a priority industry of DTI,” OIC Regional Director Dindo Nabol concluded.
