The Provincial Government of Laguna officially launched its Libreng Gulay, Laguna Pantry initiative in Pagsanjan.
Led by Governor Sol Aragones, the program aims to directly support local farmers by purchasing their produce while providing free vegetables and eggs to residents as part of the province’s efforts to strengthen food security and ease the impact of economic challenges.
“Masaya po tayo ngayong araw na ito dahil meron po tayong libreng gulay. Kahit po sa maliit na paraan ay makatulong kami sa inyo,” Aragones said.
The initiative marks the first rollout site of the Laguna Pantry program, where residents received fresh agricultural products sourced directly from local farmers.
“The program not only helps families in need but also ensures continued income for farmers across Laguna.”

The distribution activity was joined by Provincial Administrator Atty. Nathalie Velasquez, FAES Head Dr. Niño Banayo, and other officials from the Provincial Government of Laguna, showing strong coordination among different offices in implementing the program.
Mayor Jan Garcia expressed gratitude for the launch of the program in Pagsanjan, highlighting its positive impact on the community during difficult times.

The initiative is expected to expand to other municipalities in Laguna in the coming weeks as part of the provincial government’s broader commitment to food accessibility and farmer support.
Beyond immediate relief, the program also aims to build a sustainable local food system by directly linking farmers to communities, reducing waste, and ensuring fair value for agricultural products.
Local officials also expressed hope that the program will continue to grow and reach more families, especially those in vulnerable sectors, reinforcing the province’s long-term vision of inclusive and resilient agricultural development.
