AUMENTADO MOVES TO DECONGEST TAGBILARAN HOSPITAL

Bohol Governor Aris Aumentado met with Department of Health (DOH) officials to seek immediate measures to address congestion at the Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Medical Center in Tagbilaran City.

The meeting with DOH Undersecretary Jose Tecson III, Head of the Hospital Systems Cluster, and other DOH officials, focused on the growing number of patients seeking medical care at the Tagbilaran facility, resulting in some patients being accommodated in hallways and other areas of the hospital.

“Let’s maximize the capacity of the Gov. Celestino Gallares Multi-Specialty Medical Center in Cortes as a possible temporary measure to decongest the Tagbilaran facility.”

Aumentado proposed maximizing the capacity of the Gov. Celestino Gallares Multi-Specialty Medical Center in Cortes as a possible temporary measure to decongest the Tagbilaran facility, particularly while the Cortes center still has available capacity.

Under Republic Act No. 11883, the two facilities form part of the Gov. Celestino Gallares Multi-Specialty Medical Complex while operating as separate facilities under their respective medical center chiefs.

“We need coordination between the two facilities and the DOH to ensure that patients receive appropriate, quality, and timely medical care while making efficient use of available hospital resources.”

The governor emphasized the need for coordination between the two facilities and the DOH to ensure that patients receive appropriate, quality, and timely medical care while making efficient use of available hospital resources.

The concern has also been brought to the attention of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., as the province continues to seek national government support in addressing the healthcare needs of Boholanos.

The meeting underscores the provincial government’s continuing efforts to strengthen health services, improve access to specialized and essential medical care, as underscored with its Strategic Change Agenda.

“This initiative also ensures that the province’s healthcare facilities can respond effectively to the needs of the growing patient population in Bohol, a UNESCO Global Geopark,” Aumentado concluded.
