BACOLOD CITY GOES CASHLESS FOR MARKETS, TRANSPO

In line with the Paleng-QR PH Program, the City of Bacolod will now adopt QR PH Digital Payments to all business establishments and local transportation.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) released a Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 1 Series of 2022 on the Paleng-QR, which established guidelines enjoining Local Government Units’ (LGUs) participation in the Paleng-QR Ph Program.

The Bacolod LGU has been included in the BSP’s priority list to launch the program in the middle of February.

Transitioning to the digitalization of payments proves to be effective in facilitating the continuation of business and government transactions amid mobility restrictions.

GCash and PayMaya Philippines already passed their letter to introduce their application in the city in support of the Paleng-QR PH Program.

QR payments will be available on all public markets, sari-sari store owners and Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODAs)/local transportations.

“With Bacolod City pushing through this program, we will be considered as the first Paleng-QR launch in Western Visayas, the second city to launch this year and the fourth LGU being Paleng-QR PH Plus ready in the entire country since this program was launched,” Mayor Albee Benitez noted.
