“To care for our own soldiers is to care for our own country.”
This is the firm belief of Special Assistant to the President Bong Go as he recently took time to visit wounded soldiers recovering at the Camp Lukban Station Hospital in Samar.
Among those whom Go visited were Private First Class (PFC) Eric Alegria, PFC First Sonny Calda and PFC Anthony Palana.
During his visit, Go handed over financial assistance, a mobile phone, a watch, and a gun certificate to PFC Alegria through the Office of the President.
It was Go’s second visit to Calda and Palana who already received the same assistance given to Alegria during the visit to Tacloban last June 29 of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Calda and Palana were also conferred with the Order of Lapu-Lapu Medal by the President.
Go also assured that he will help facilitate the request of 8ID Assistant Commander Brigadier General Eliezer Losanes for needed medical equipment for the Camp Lukban Station Hospital such as X-ray machines.
After visiting the wounded soldiers, Go joined the locals of Samar in celebrating the 117th Founding Anniversary of their province at the Samar Provincial Covered Court in Catbalogan City.
In his speech, Go also recognized the vital role that barangay officials play in keeping the country peaceful and progressive citing that they are the frontliners in the implementation of the government’s policies and programs. Go also stressed the importance of their work in fast tracking the delivery of government services to citizens as well as assisting higher local government officials.
“Barangay officials are the frontliners in implementing the policies and programs of the government.”
He then concluded his speech by urging the local government and barangay officials to continue their support for the President’s programs against illegal drugs, criminality, and corruption and for federalism which he said is one key in making the province of Samar more progressive.
