Happening on April 17, 2026 (Friday), 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the University of the Philippines (UPM) Manila Theater, third-year Organizational Communication (OrCom) SPEECH 137 TFB students will host their annual conference that opens the floor to talks, discussions, and sessions designed to deepen the practice of communication across different organizational landscapes.
Designed for OrCom majors and open to all, this year’s OrComference, entitled BEACON: Illuminating Communication Across Horizons, explores how communication, through communicative leadership, serves as a guiding light in uncovering truths, strengthening connections, and shaping purposeful ventures.
BEACON 2026 is centered on three core pillars, each illuminating a dimension of communicative leadership. The first, Being (The Light Within), explores how communication shapes identity from within through navigating challenges, constructing meaning, and cultivating growth. The second, Bringing (The Light Forward), examines how communication carries voices forward through one’s influence in mobilizing ideas, shaping narratives, and emphasizing collaboration in advocacy-driven change. Lastly, Building (The Light Together) delves into how communication brings voices together through leadership that fosters an inclusive, purpose-driven community rooted in justice and responsibility.
Each serves as a bulwark, not in isolation but in unity. Together, they form a stronghold that offers a deeper understanding of what communicative leadership truly looks like in a world where dialogue is needed more than ever. From the self to shared horizons, BEACON traces the full light of communication as a guiding force.
As the UP Manila Theater opens its doors this April 17, attendees can expect an insightful afternoon that reminds us why communicative leadership matters—not just in practice, but as a way to illuminate across horizons together.
