BETTER ROADS TO BATAAN NAT’L PARK SOON – DPWH

Two road projects by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are expected to improve access to tourist destinations in Orani, Bataan such as Bataan National Park.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller Tolentino identified the roads in support to tourism as Mulawin-Tala Road and Pagasa-Tala Road.

The newly-improved Mulawin-Tala Road in Barangay Tala involves the concreting of a 350-linear-meter section of road and 2.66-linear-kilometer road shoulder costing P14.6 million was completed by the DPWH Bataan First District Engineering Office (DEO).

Meanwhile, a P96.4-million slope protection project along Pagasa-Tala Road leading to Mt. Natib is underway and presently at 70 percent complete as of September 2022.

The project entails the construction of 3.27-square-kilometer rockfall netting including hydroseeding along the landslide-prone segment of the road, with the netting anchored in geotextile and type I erosion control mat to control soil losses.

Once completed, the mountainous section of the road will be protected from falling rocks and soil collapses.
