Senator Bong Go emphasized the importance of helping communities recover from fire incidents while strengthening preparedness and preventive measures, as his Malasakit team extended assistance to families affected by a fire in Barangay Lingunan, Valenzuela City.
“Importante po sa akin ang buhay at kalusugan ng bawat Pilipino. Sabi ko nga, ang gamit ay mabibili natin ‘yan, ang pera ay kikitain natin ‘yan kung magsusumikap tayo. Pero ang buhay, hindi po nabibili. Importante pong buhay tayo, at kilala po ang mga Pilipino sa pagtutulungan,” Go said in a message.

Underscoring that recovery efforts should go hand in hand with preventive measures, the veteran legislator stressed the need to invest in stronger emergency preparedness and safer public infrastructure to better protect communities from future fire and other disaster-related incidents.
The seasoned lawmaker cited his role as principal author and co-sponsor of Republic Act No. 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of permanent, disaster-resilient evacuation centers in every city and municipality nationwide.
The senator likewise highlighted RA 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021, which he principally authored and co-sponsored.
The measure strengthens the country’s firefighting capabilities by providing modern equipment, improving personnel training, and enhancing institutional support for the Bureau of Fire Protection.
During the relief initiative held at the Pinagbayanan Covered Court in Barangay Lingunan, Valenzuela City, his team provided assistance to 12 fire-affected families.
Each family received cash assistance, grocery packs, water containers, vitamins, shirts, pens, and either basketballs or volleyballs.

Magseserbisyo po ako sa abot ng aking makakaya dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at naniniwala ako na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo sa Diyos,” Go concluded.
