BONG GO BACKS CALL TO STOP POGO OPS IN PH

If they continue to cause problems, Senator Bong Go has expressed support for calls to halt Philippine offshore gaming operators’ (POGO) operations in the country, emphasizing the importance of peace, order, and the security of Filipinos.

“Sabi ko nga, kung nagbibigay problema naman po sa peace and order ay maaring pwede na pong i-phase out dahil mas importante po sa akin ang peace and order, buhay at seguridad ng bawat Pilipino,” said Go during an ambush interview after attending the groundbreaking of the Super Health Center in Kawit, Cavite recently.

The legislator emphasized the need for the government to take a tough stance against crime and work to strengthen peace and order in the country.

During a Senate hearing recently, some lawmakers reiterated their call for the government to ban POGO operations, claiming that these have turned into a haven for criminal activity such as kidnapping and money laundering.

Meanwhile, when asked about banning the operations of POGOs, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. responded that the decision would be based on the purpose of the ban, given that the issue is with illegal operators.

“The problems are the illegal ones, not the legal ones. The legal ones pay their bills, pay their taxes and, you know, those videos showing killings, they are the illegal ones,” Marcos said.

Go urged the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to carry out its duties and thoroughly monitor POGO operations in the country.

He also asked the police to keep the peace and ensure the safety of all Filipinos.
