Senator Bong Go expressed his support for the confirmation of the ad interim appointments and nomination of 38 generals, flag officers, and senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), recognizing their years of service and the greater responsibilities accompanying their new ranks.
During the deliberations of the Commission on Appointments, Go seconded the motion to confirm the appointments and congratulated the military officials, citing their leadership, competence, professionalism, and dedication to the country.
“To all our distinguished appointees, allow me to extend my warmest congratulations and deepest appreciation for your years of dedicated and honorable service to our country,” the veteran legislator said.
The seasoned lawmaker stressed that promotion to higher positions in the military carries responsibilities extending far beyond the recognition attached to rank.
“These appointments recognize your leadership, competence, and professionalism, as well as the trust placed in you by our nation.”
“These appointments recognize your leadership, competence, and professionalism, as well as the trust placed in you by our nation. The responsibilities that come with your new ranks are not merely distinctions, but a greater call to serve,” the senator said.
He particularly underscored the enormous responsibility entrusted to General Antonio Navarete, noting the scale of the institution and population that military leaders are duty-bound to protect.
“Nakasalalay sa inyong mga kamay ang more than 160 thousand strong officers at personnel na bumubuo ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas at ang kapakanan ng mahigit 110 million Filipinos,” Go said.
He also paid tribute to the families of military personnel, recognizing the sacrifices that accompany a life of public service.
“To all the appointees, we thank you and your families for the sacrifices you have made in the service of our country,” Go said.
He pointed out that military service frequently entails prolonged separation from loved ones and exposure to danger in fulfilling the responsibility of safeguarding the nation and its people.
“Behind every uniform is a commitment that often requires personal sacrifice, time away from loved ones, and the courage to face risks in the performance of duty.”
“We recognize that behind every uniform is a commitment that often requires personal sacrifice, time away from loved ones, and the courage to face risks in the performance of duty,” Go said.
As the newly appointed officials assume greater responsibilities, he urged them to exercise leadership anchored on courage, integrity, humility, and concern for the welfare of Filipinos.
“May you continue to lead with courage, integrity, and humility, while always remaining mindful of the welfare and safety of our people,” Go said.
“Lagi nating tandaan—unahin lagi ang interes ng bayan, unahin lagi ang interes ng Pilipino,” he emphasized.
Go likewise assured members of the military of his continuing support, particularly those who accept the risks inherent in defending the country and serving the public.
“Maraming salamat po for choosing to serve the public despite the dangers that may arise as you fulfill your duties. We honor your sacrifices, and we remain committed to supporting you as you continue to serve our nation with honor and integrity,” he said.
Go concluded by congratulating the appointees and thanking them for their commitment to public service and national defense.
