BONG GO GIVES AID TO FIRE-HIT LEYTE RESIDENTS

Senator Bong Go aided fire victims in Barangay Lemon, Capoocan, Leyte as part of continuing efforts to help families recovering from emergency situations and other hardships.

The activity was held at the Barangay Hall of Barangay Lemon, with Go’s team assisting in the distribution.

The veteran legislator’s office provided grocery packs, shirts, pens, and a basketball. Further through the national government, the beneficiaries received housing assistance each.

The senator thanked the local officials and the national government for helping ensure that assistance reached the beneficiaries in Barangay Lemon.

He also expressed gratitude to the people of Capoocan, Leyte, where he ranked first in the recent elections, saying their support continues to inspire him to bring services closer to communities.

Beyond immediate assistance, he continues to push for measures that seek to strengthen disaster response, recovery, and support for affected families.

Go filed Senate Bill No. 173, or the proposed Department of Disaster Resilience Act, which seeks to establish a focused agency for disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and rehabilitation. He also filed SBN 415, or the proposed Rental Housing Subsidy Act, which seeks to provide rental support to informal settler families and victims of disasters.

He likewise filed SBN 669, or the proposed Hazard Pay for Disaster Personnel Act, which seeks to grant hazard pay to personnel involved in disaster response.

Go also principally authored and co-sponsored Republic Act No. 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of permanent, disaster-resilient evacuation centers in cities and municipalities nationwide.

For him, assistance programs must continue to reach communities directly, especially families and individuals who need help in recovering from difficult situations, just like the two families assisted.

He reiterated that he will continue supporting communities in need through practical and direct service.
