BONG GO GIVES AID TO ZAMBOANGA CITY FIRE VICTIMS

Following a fire incident that affected residents in Zamboanga City, Senator Bong Go dispatched his team to conduct relief initiatives for fire-affected families.

“Kapag may mga insidente gaya ng sunog, lindol, o baha, ang lagi ko pong tinatanong ay kung mayroong nasaktan,” Go said.

“Ang gamit ay mabibili natin ‘yan. Ang pera, kikitain niyo ‘yan kung magsusumikap tayo. Pero ang buhay, hindi na maibabalik. A lost life is a lost life forever. Importante na buhay tayo. Kilala ang mga Pilipino sa pagtutulungan,” the veteran legislator added.

The initiative was carried out at the Multipurpose Court in Brgy. Talon-Talon, where 117 affected families received assistance. Beneficiaries were provided with vitamins, shirts, grocery packs, water containers, and basketballs, and volleyballs. Select recipients were also given a bicycle.

“Republic Act No. 11589 is a key measure in strengthening the country’s firefighting capabilities.”

The seasoned lawmaker cited Republic Act No. 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Modernization Act of 2021, which he principally authored and co-sponsored, as a key measure in strengthening the country’s firefighting capabilities.

The law mandates a comprehensive ten-year modernization program, including the recruitment of additional personnel, procurement of modern firefighting equipment, and enhanced training for fire responders.

Meanwhile, the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography also encouraged those with health issues to seek the services of Malasakit Centers.

The senator is the principal author and sponsor of RA 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program. Currently, 167 Malasakit Centers are established nationwide.

“The Malasakit Center program has aided more than 17 million Filipinos.”

The Department of Health has reported that the Malasakit Center program has aided more than 17 million Filipinos. In Zamboanga City, Malasakit Centers are located at Zamboanga City Medical Center, Zamboanga Regional Medical Center, and Labuan General Hospital.

“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo. Naniniwala ako na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo sa Panginoon,” Go concluded.
