BONG GO LAUDS ROMBLON COUNCILORS

Senator Bong Go, an adopted son of Romblon, attended the 1st Philippine Councilor League (PCL) Romblon Chapter Convention 2026 held at the Diamond Hotel Manila and commended local legislators for going beyond their lawmaking duties and taking a more active role in delivering services directly to their constituents.

Go underscored the importance of engaging with communities and responding to the everyday needs of ordinary Filipinos.

You deserve some rest.

The seasoned lawmaker also recalled his previous visits to the province and reiterated his commitment to continue supporting the people of Romblon.

During the event, he acknowledged the officers of PCL Romblon Chapter, including President Board Member Mart Silverio, Vice President Councilor Romeo Chua, Secretary General Councilor Menchie Garachico, Treasurer William Tan, Auditor Councilor Zaldy Marin, Public Relations Officer Councilor Nhiesel Teologo, Business Manager Councilor Unique Muros, and other Board of Directors.

Go and his team likewise distributed some tokens to the attending councilors as a gesture of appreciation for their public service.

A member of the Senate Committee on Local Government, he likewise reaffirmed his continued push for measures that aim to strengthen local governance and provide greater support to barangay officials and frontline workers.

Among these initiatives is Republic Act No. 11466, which he co-authored and co-sponsored. The law provides salary adjustments for government personnel, including public healthcare workers.

Go also filed Senate Bill No. 197, which seeks to grant barangay officials benefits similar to those of regular government employees if enacted into law.

He likewise continues to advocate for SBN 412, which he refiled in the 20th Congress. The measure aims to institutionalize compensation and benefits for barangay health workers, recognizing their vital role in delivering primary healthcare services, particularly in underserved communities.

As Vice Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and a longtime crusader for healthcare reforms, Go also mentioned his commitment to expanding healthcare access by filing SBN 1289, which establishes a Level III general hospital in Oriental Mindoro known as the MIMAROPA Regional Hospital if enacted.
